Everyday we try to save our skin from the damage of the environment and/or self-inflicted poor product selection. We leave our skin to figure out what it needs, how it needs it, and when it needs it. The summer months seem to throw a wrench in our skincare due to heat and humidity.
So many factors are taken into consideration when all we want is perfect glowing skin all year round. Well, I have put together a quick little 5 Tips to Upgrade Your skincare routine that will set you up for glowing skin success.
AM = Protectors, PM = Correctors:
What is a “Protector” and “Corrector”? So many have asked that very question. Your “Protectors” are going to be such ingredients as Vitamin C, which helps boost your natural SPF and also fight off any free radicals. Your SPF (Sun Protection Factor) or sunscreen is an obvious one. It needs to be more than just your makeup having SPF. You need a separate SPF product. Talk to your Skin Specialist about great ones to use.
“Correctors” are going to be what is used to create a change in the skin like an acid or enzyme. Our skin heals and repairs itself at night while we sleep. By using your “Correctors” at night it allows the ingredients to work while the skin is on overdrive trying to get back to factory settings. “Correctors” can possibly make skin sun sensitive, so you don’t need to be adding an acid to the skin during the day.
Know The Difference Between Dry & Dehydrated
One may think that these two are the same or even slightly similar when in fact they aren’t. When the skin is healthy it will have equal parts water/oil. If your skin is lacking water or DEHYDRATED, your oil glands will produce more OIL to compensate. This can be seen as large pores and greasy film on the skin. If your skin is DRY your skin needs more OIL. This can be seen as lack of pores and flakey skin. Dehydrated Skin is a condition that can be helped by the addition of Hyaluronic Acid which holds 1000x its weight in water. HA will grab at any water it can, so you always need to have another product over it, so it doesn’t pull from the environment. NOW, Dry skin is a skin type that will constantly need oil through moisturizing products such as macadamia nut oil or Calendula oil. Both oils are light and easily absorbed into the skin.
Keep It SIMPLE
Some may think that a good skincare routine needs 8-10 products and half a day to apply them all. That doesn’t necessarily ring true. Keeping your skincare routine simple allows the skin to figure out what needs to happen and if there is a bad reaction to something, it is easier to narrow down the issue. I always suggest to my clients an amazing cleanser, serum, and moisturizer. Once the skin begins to plateau, we switch up one of the 3 original items. This way the skin is always adjusting and/or maintaining results.
Listen To Your Pro
You go see an Esty and they are full of information. That very information comes from someone that is continually learning and mastering their craft. Estheticians can be the help you’ve been looking for. They understand you and your skin concerns. They take the time to learn about you and your skin concerns and then work their magic. An excellent Esty will suggest changes to many things, like skincare, little diet changes, or even refer you to a medical professional if they can’t help you. LISTEN TO YOUR PRO. They will open your eyes to so much.
- Don’t Be Afraid Of Home Devices
Home devices can be scary. Especially if you don’t know what to look for. This is where listening to your pro comes into play. If you are a client that wants all the latest gadgets, then your pro will be the person to talk to. For instance, you are wanting to work on your eye area, and you are loving the Nano Treatments your pro is offering. Grab a Skin Wand Pro from your pro and learn all the ways you can use it SAFELY at home. This device is very easy to implement in your normal routine and it is from your Pro. Therefore, it’s legit. Don’t go on Amazon and purchase a knockoff professional device and attempt to “recreate” what your pro has worked so hard on. That can only create a very bad situation and it won’t be fun.
